Snails trail across the border

This weekend the Snails took part in one of their last races of the Club Champs year - the Jailbreak 10k in Lancaster.

Tensions were high and the competition was fierce for those battling for the top 3 spots in their division. It’s always an exciting time in the club champs - whilst some divisions are all tied up in others there’s still everything to play for.

Jailbreak was a flat fast and somewhat boring (sorry) race but it did make for some fantastic PB potential. It started near Lancaster castle, stretched 3 miles towards Morecambe before turning round and heading back. 99% of it was on cycle paths meaning that traffic wasn’t an issue - however dog walkers and weekend cyclists did occasionally make it difficult along the route. The race ended with a gruelling 400m incline back to the castle which felt particularly cruel after such a flat route.

All that being said the race was well organised - a cracking medal and sweets were handed out at the finish line and PBs were being made all over the shop. A full list of results can be found here, which also tells you the current champs race standings.
