Rules:
Our Parkrun Championships are a fantastic introduction to competitive running with the club. parkrun is a weekly, free run suitable for all speeds of runners and walkers alike. The rules are below:
The competition will consist of six mixed sex divisions, these will be the same as the Club Championship Divisions.
Runners will be assigned a division based on their ability (based on current times/times over the past season [whichever is quicker]) as and when you take part in your first race.
Points are awarded for each event. First place in each division gets 30 points, second place gets 29 points etc.
In addition to being graded purely on time, there will be an addition competition for the best age graded runner in each division. This will be scored used Parkrun’s age grading system which is loosely based on WAVA (Read more here and here).
An example of how this would work with a selection of our runners from the recent Champs race at Shroggs is here.
In each division the top two runners based purely on time and the highest scoring age graded runner will win prizes at the annual presentation evening. The priority for prizes will be 1st places, 1st age graded place, 2nd place.
You must complete a minimum of five parkruns over the year to qualify.
Your top five scores will count towards your final score.
You must be a fully paid up Club member and have your Parkrun club set as Sowerby Bridge Snails.
You must complete your first race on or before the 11th July 2026 to take part (i.e your 1st race of the season needs to be Heaton Park or earlier).
